Northampton faced Newport County hoping to continue their good record against the South Wales Club but were taught a lesson by Finch's Newport Boys. Newport yet again started well with an early corner after some clever work on the right from Weston found him with open space on the far side, his cross found the head of Rene Howe whos header cannoned off Emile Sinclair for a corner. From the corner that Wilmott whipped in Ilsenmi's header was crucially blocked by Northampton defender Lee Collins. 4 minutes later and Newport lead. Ilsenmi's throw in found Howe in open space whos first time cross confused Collins and Mcauly and gave Jermaine Easter a easy header to tap in to give Newport the lead and score is 10th goal of the league season. and things got worse for Northampton when straight from kick off Michael Doyle picked the ball off the feet of Nichlas Bignal and passed to Rene Howe who turned and ran the ball his ball to Hounahrine found him in space but the midfielder passed to Robbie Willmott to double Newports lead. just before the break Northampton should have been back in it, Emile Sinclair broke and played a beautiful one two with Tozer before striking right at keeper Luke Daniels. The Second half started well after a triple sub from Northampton Town they went on the attack some clever play upfront from Spear found himself in acres of space but his shot was well wide and not bothering Luke Daniels. Newport fought back with a corner that Willmott delivered to the front post, Kevin Feely rose highest but his header smashed against the post before Rene Howe's follow up was blocked by a defender from 6 yards. a bright 10 minutes for Northampton saw Emile Sinclair go close again when Spear's long run and lay off found Sinclair one on one with Luke Daniels but Daniels pulled of a great save with his legs. Jermaine Easter found himself in space on the right hand side after debutant Walsh pulled of a long ball to find the 31 year old. His low drive found Robbie Willmott in space whos shot was cleverly diverted in by Rene Howe. the next 30 minutes were quite and with only one real chance. 20 passes from Newport County found Jermaine Easter through on goal but his shot was well saved. Wembley bound Newport County held Promotion favourites Gillingham to a 0-0 draw at Priestfield The first half was bright for The Port when 2 minutes into the game Conor Hourihane long ball towards the wing found Luke Young in lots of space, The Wingers cross fell beautifully to Jermaine Easter who couldnt finish off the chance as his slice hits the post and gathered by Stuart Nelson. 3 minutes later Newport and Easter had another chance. Feely took the ball of Cook on the half way line and layed of Myles Weston whos left footed hit and hope was beautifully brought down by Jermaine Easter, however the Welsh Internationals shot was again saved by Stuart Nelson. Gillingham only threatened once in the first half when Jordan Cook broke quickly down the left but his shot was well saved by Luke Daniels. The Resulting Corner found Josh McQoid but his header hit the post before being cleared by Skipper Bobby Hassell. Newport could have had the lead going into half time after a freekick from Jermaine Easter was cleared by the defender before Luke Young fired well wide from the edge of the box. The only real chance of the second half fell to Gillingham as Rowe found space on the left and his lofted ball clipped the head of Newport Defender Jon Page but Ashley Fletcher failed to turn it in
